Shock gum is good stuff, especially good if your fishing a quick action(fast) (stiff) 4,5, or 6 wt

makes using 8-6X easier with these types of rods, I've sold the stuff for years, good for

bass fisherman that pick up a fly rod a couple of times a year :)

I use them and I think they are worth it. I have a fast action rod so I can snap off with really light tippets if I am not careful and I think this helps protect my tippet on those overzealous hook sets. One thing I have noticed is they last me about 3 or 4 months and then I need to change it...so I usually by 3 or 4 at a time and carry them in my pack. For 1.95 I think they are worth it.

I would be one of those bass fishing converts :-) Sometimes I almost yank a fish out of the water on hook sets. Another question, have you tried feathercraft tippet ? http://www.feather-craft.com/wecs.php?store=feacraft&action=display&target=GD006

I've been using their fluoro tippet exclusively now for the past 2 years. In my opinon it is great stuff and you get more yardage per spool than with other brands.

Same here on the tippet. Been using it for a year. Works great.

So you actually get 50 yds of material per spool? How does this compare to Orvis' Mirage tippet?
