Walcrabass Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I am planning a trip to Stockton about Sunday. If anybody fishes Saturday please post some advice on the situation. I will probably go to the Cedar Ridge area and fish clear up to the big islands. Any help would be appreciated as the weather report does not look too good. I love fishing but I am not real wild about freezing and just flailing water.
binman Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I'm fishing tomorrow but going to the other end I am putting in at cc. I would fish main lake but they are talking 30+ mph winds I am not messing with that. Will let you know how we do. Brandon Inman
binman Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Fished today and didn't get a bite water temp was 43 at cc and windy saw three boats catching fish at the bridge they looked to be small crappie. Had motor trouble so didn't fish long. Threw jigs, cranks, stick baits, shaky head and salt craw but nothing worked. I would say stay away from there if your bass fishing and be careful in the river water is real shallow. Brandon Inman
straw hat Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 I must of seen you today binman. The wife and I fished 3 places around CC today including the bank by the boat launch. The bite was terrible until just before the rain started. Once the rain set in the wind stopped and the fish turned on. I hung in there for about an hour and a half until I was completely soaked and frozen. My wife was still catching crappie like crazy but I had to go get warmed up. bbrrrr She is a tougher fisherman than me. I wound up with 5 keeper crappie and one 16" largemouth before I wimped out. My wife stayed with it until 4:30 PM and had 10 keeper crappie and a 14" white bass. Both the largemouth and crappie were mostly 8 to 10 feet deep. Like you said, we couldn't catch anything in the morning, not until early afternoon and the wind settled down. The water temp along that bluff was 39 to 40 and with the snow/sleet and cold rain and cold weather coming it will not be long until there will be ice on the water down there in that area. This should be my last trip for a while as the doctors are scheduling my second surgery this next week. Keep after those fish for me everyone and let me know how you are doing. Good luck and be safe.
binman Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 You could not have missed me I was in a blue 21 ft swift we were the 2 guys that paddled 2.5 miles back to the ramp with the wind blowing right at us I had to pull my boat on the trailer with a rope!!! I think we were about as noticeable as you can get. I will hopefully be back on the water soon I dropped the boat off at my mechanics shop and I will find out what happened by the end of the week!! Did see two more eagles today. Brandon Inman
Members HYDE Posted December 4, 2011 Members Posted December 4, 2011 did any of you that fished cc today see any ducks or hear much shooting that would have been waterfowl hunters?
