Brian K. Shaffer Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Why has the schedule been exactly the same for like a week now ? Is it going to be like this on New Years Day ? It ' projects ' 150 Mega Watts to be ran til noon.. then shut down by half to 75MW (shutting down from 2 units to 1 units). They are screaming 4 units full blast right now... 710.2 lake level is them running a ton of water, not 150MW - its 320MW!! It hasn't happened as they have projected one time - not one day of the entire week last week was even close. Why even have the darn thing if it is ALWAYS wrong ??? what a teaser... what a steaming pile of you know what ! Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
Gatorjet Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Don't they have a disclaimer that says their schedule doesn't reflect what the Corps of Engineers do for flood control. Is table Rock higher than Winter pool, and the area expecting a lot of rainfall? Could the Corps be having them running water through just to keep Table Rock within Winter pool? Maybe a bit of paranoia after the past couple floods! Real men go propless!

Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 26, 2011 Root Admin Posted December 26, 2011 Brian- call your man in the dam.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted December 26, 2011 Author Posted December 26, 2011 Nah Phil, they won't have any answers for me I haven't already heard.... It just chaps me that they have what could really be a utilized feature of SWPA but they choose not use it to its fullest potential. In the end, I guess they just do not want to be sued... hence the 'canned ' disclaimer. Generation is on demand, so if Texas needs power all of a sudden(maybe its cold and they need the extra power)all bets are off and they turn on more generators. Keep in mind Table Rock supplies 5 states, Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas with power. Note almost nothing for Missouri. This is why projections from 6pm the night before are almost meaningless.
Members ltomczyk Posted December 30, 2011 Members Posted December 30, 2011 Need some help please regarding the generation schedule. I like to wade and fly fish when the water is low enough. What do the numbers in the schedule mean? What number is too high to be wading safely? Thanks for your feedback!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 30, 2011 Root Admin Posted December 30, 2011 Ah... I see. I merged the wrong topics. Here's Itomczyk's post. Not going to try to fix this- I'd mess it up more.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 I just got off the phone with the operator... he told me the rumors of dumping 10 feet of water to get to 905 are false. He also said that once they get under 915 they should be scaling back this constant high water. Shutting down at night. He also told me that as of NOV they are operating Bull Shoals, Norfork and Greers Ferry dams all thru Table Rock. So those dams are now unmanned. Cool huh.
