ciRe Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Does anyone know Jordan? I would like to find out more about his camera. Looks like a lot of fun!!! http://gopro.com/products/?gclid=CPvr2LCPsK0CFc3DKgod71_NoA - Here ya go Murdoc. They are pretty cool cameras we use them on our motorcycles for racing and they are very durable. I crashed at 105 last June and it just bounced around and still works great! They get pricey but awesome toys to have. When we do winter float trips we put them on the paddles also.

rcguy Posted January 2, 2012 Author Posted January 2, 2012 FFF, I got down there at 8:30 am on friday the 30th. I met noluck and his brother in the store parking lot. We chatted and dressed for battle. I happened to notice another friend from Kansas City coming out of the store so we talked and headed to the stream. I fished a couple of hours just above the dam and caught a couple. It was hard to detect the strike for me. The indicator was bobbing up and down like crazy in the wind and the strikes we very light. On on pink egg and one on John Deer. In the afternoon I caught several in Zone 2 on a Primrose and Pearl size 20 Midge. It was a beautiful warm day and was perfect except for the wind. There were quite a few guys down there!
FlyFishinFool Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Sorry I missed you guys - I could not make it down on Friday as I already had a pheasant hunt arranged with an old friend from up North, and I have the bird dog! On Saturday there was no wind for a bit over 2 hours in the morning, so I caught a lot of fish between 8:00AM-10:00AM, but only on midges - no dry fly action at all. I know what you mean about the strike indicators bouncing, after 10:00AM the wind started picking up speed until it was blowing 20-25mph and gusting over 30mph for the rest of the day. However, there were still fish willing to bite, but as you indicated, the bites were very light and I am sure I missed more than I hooked. I fished most of the day with size 16 midges in several colors: olive, brown, black, blue, green and even a white. Caught the most fish on the darkest colors. I might get down there for one more day on Monday 1/9 (cannot make the weekend as I have kids & grandkids visiting) but that will be it for me for a while. Hope you and your family has a great New Year! * ´¯`•.¸¸.•´¯`•.¸ ><((((((º> `•.¸¸.•´¯`•.¸¸.•´¯`•.¸ ><((((º> .¸¸.•´¯`•.¸ ><((((((º> I look in my fly box and think about what should guide my choice of the best fly: the amount/angle of sun on the water, the water temp & clarity, what bugs are hatching, what the fish might be eating, and what worked last time. Then I remember what an old man told me... " Ninety percent of what a trout eats is brown, fuzzy, about 1/2 inch long and underwater."
Members Davekc Posted January 7, 2012 Members Posted January 7, 2012 Thanks so much for posting the video ! I grew up fishing the parks since I was 8 years old and am now 53. I spent years working in Texas and not able to get to the parks. I am now back in KC. The video brought back so many memories! I agree with everyone that the two guys talking on the bench was great and a real part of the experince of BSSP. Just sit an watch the fish rise and the fishermen try to fool them. Hope to get down this year and meet some of you. Take Care
