Flysmallie Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 My love for rooster tails has caused me to start experimenting with spinners on flies. Line twist on a spinning rod is one thing but it's really bad on my leaders. Im getting a lot of knots probably because I can cast so well . Has anybody every tried to use a small barrel swivel on a fly line? I was thinking about just using it to connect the leader to the tippet? Is there a swivel small enough?
brittsnbirds Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Actually I have! A kid I was fishing next to at Bennett one day was using a small barrell swivel between the leader and tippet. Like me he was stripping cracklebacks on a full sinking line. I switched to the barrel swivel and noticed that the line twist was pretty much gone. It didn't effect my cast or catching of fish. The only thing it effects is the sink rate.
