LittleRedFisherman Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 I'm pretty familar with the White river near Calico Rock, but that's about it. Going with a friend this coming weekend to try some trout, and we are thinking about trying the White around Cotter. I believe we should have a better chance to hook into some browns up there. Just curious if anybody had any advice on fishing this area. Probably gonna do some spin fishing, as well as flyfishing. Thanks for any input, Bret. There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
gotmuddy Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Why cotter in particular? If norfork is generating I personally would rather fish there. Wildcat shoals is a great place to launch and fish. I like to go upstream to the narrows on low flows, and down into the shoals. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
dpenrod Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 roundhouse shoals always fishes well for me, on both sides of the island. fish the slower water in front of the first set of riffles and then work your way down. at the far end of the island where the water from the back side and front sides meet, there is a seam where i always finds fish as well. not sure what you call the section, but where that long line of big rocks are stair stacked up for several yards is another good spot to fish.
