Members chundler Posted January 31, 2012 Members Posted January 31, 2012 I've been scouting for some good wade in spots, since I have no boat, around Twin Bridges to fly fish. I was wondering if you guys had any advice. I know its a little early for whites, but I've heard some people have been catching walleye and crappie with flies recently. Also, never too early to scout for when it gets really good.
J-Doc Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Most guys in the Beaver forum are boat users. But..... there are a lot of folks here on the forum that are fly-guys. I bet they will be more than happy to help. If you don't find many answers here, try one of the fly-specific forums here. Good folks here willing to help/discuss fishing and share information. Welcome to the forum! Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!

J-Doc Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 The Twin Bridges area gets really populated from what I've heard. I seem to recall hearing you couldn't find parking around there last year from all of the fly anglers and river boat anglers. So it's a very popular spot. I would think the water would be pretty clear up there and you should be able to see where to wade. I do know that there are some larger whites in Beaver so you could have a lot of luck. We found a school off of a main lake point this fall and it looked like a school of large 14-15" phirana! It was amazing! My partner and I caught 50 in a few hours. We could have caught more but they put up such a fight, it took a while to land them. Felt like fishing for small yellow-fin tuna! (haha) For wade fishing, you could also try several spots along the lake where you can access the lake by foot. The best places are where not many people have already fished the area heavily. You can Google areas to explore around the lake and find places near roads or old roads that lead to the lake. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. Stump bumper Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Right down 412 from there you can get to the sidewalk hole and around the boat launch there would be a good wading area on War eagle and they get some good runs of whites also.

The sidewalk hole is around the Twin Bridges boat launch? I fished War Eagle some last summer and never had much luck other than some random catfish hitting topwater... I used the paid access close to the mill, maybe I was in the wrong spot I've only lived up here for almost 2 years, somehow I've never fished Twin Bridges. I've thought it was only boatable until recently.
Stump bumper Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 The sidewalk hole is down stream a ways from the mill, not far off route 412 and not far from the twin bridges but the twin bridges are on the White River. When the Rivers hit about 50 degrees the whites will run up to spawn and the run up and back are feeding frenzeys. I have always had better luck on the War Eagle. Before the 62lb Striper was caught in the tail waters of Beaver the Lake record was 58lbs that was caught from shore near War Eagle Marina (on White River) by an old man fishing from a lawn chair. Timed right you can catch 25lb Stripers in 2 feet of water on about anything you throw in their way, but a few days later they are gone, it is worth watching for and occurs much earlier than most people start thinking about hitting the lake. I hope this link in Google Maps helps. The area I am talking about is the Sandy point on the map right in the bend, there is a paved road leading there from Route 412. http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=36.202292,-93.969888&z=15&t=h&hl=en

Got that spot saved.
J-Doc Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Caught by an old man in a lawn chair. That's awesome!! That's what fishing is all about right there. It wasn't a striper guide or some dude with $5,000 worth of side imaging sonar......just an old man in a lawn chair. Yep....that's what fishing dreams are made of. That's why I hope the George Perry bass record never changes and remains on top. An ole boy fishing with his one artificial bait and fishing to feed his family. That's poetic..... Need marine repair? West Fork Jason Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 Is there a good landing (to back a drift boat trailer down to the water) down river from Twin Bridges to do a nice day fishing trip? http://www.WestForkJason.com
