ruthead Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Going to make my first trip ever to Taney around the first of April. Will be fishing around rebar area. My favorite is dry fly fishin but sounds like I'm gonna learn to fish scuds and midges. What kind of action can a guy expect dry flyin then? Patterns etc. I tie my own flies so can make whats needed to fill a "Taney Dry Fly Box". Will also be makin a "Taney Scud and Midge Box" so lookin for patterns for that time of year also. Any help is sure appreciated. Worst thing is I still gotta wait 2 months but that'll give me lots a time to get ready!! Cocry Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 i've said this before in other subforums. WD40's(brown/gray) size 18
Wayne SW/MO Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Midge hatches are common and Griffins Gnat always works for me. When you come in on 165 check with the flyshops for current information. They have guides and know what is working. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I sure hope you wouldn't mind fishing high water as well. edit - 5am Wed, I will add more later today. ruthead Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 What about sculpins and leeches? Favorite patterns, colors, recipes anyone?? "Pretty soon we may not have any rights left because it might infringe on someone's rights"
Leonard Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 there are so many different patterns for taney... Griffins Gnat is a great choice.... crackle backs fished wet or dry is great also... I like to use the yellow sallies and small stimulator .... Adams should start doing well... small mayflies should start coming off the water really soon... copper johns has been awesome all winter long.. bring a few heavy ones... few lightly weighted ones and some with no weight sculpins... olive...tan...ginger seems to be the hot colors right now.. leeches... depending on the time of day... earth tones ... black, olives, brown, tans and woolly buggers.. same ...... just add white and gray http://www.taneycomonights.com
