Jack Jones Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Aro, I feel your pain. I've tried the Springfield area as much as I could and came up empty too many times. I've done a bit at Delaware, but that was slack too. From what I read, I'm thinking Galena and below is where you gotta be. Anyone know if a float trip from James River Outfitters would be worthwhile during the run, in terms of catching? Wayne SW/MO Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Jack it could be productive, especialy putting in at Horse Creek and fishing the shoals hard. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
BackCastingGolfer Posted February 3, 2012 Author Posted February 3, 2012 Will James River Outfitters shuttle your own kayak?
Fishslayer88 Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 yes they will shuttle and i would honestly skip horse creek and just float galena to blunks and and hit the cave hole and taylors shoal real hard 2 of the best places in the entire stretch for fishing imo. they even have a cabin at blunks if you wanted to make a weekend out of it.

Sweet then I may be using them quite often this spring when I am floating by myself.
Micheal Kyle Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 I think that the mild temps along with the longer day light hours are going to make an earlier run. I know I am deffently ready to catch some, I hope we have a better year than last floods combined with cold weather sure does not help. I am praying that we don't get a major flood just seems the last couple of years when it starts cranking so do the rains. See you all down on the river but only at night though. Night time is the right time!!!! To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 While daylight controls a lot of what and when the environment makes changes, many are dependent on temerature alone and the spawning run is one of them. It wno't happen because of a spike, even though that might make them show if it last long enough. Rain is another factor because a warm rain can change a rivers temperature quickly. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
