Bertrand To Houseman

I've floated the tailwater in my canoe a few times, but just from the dam to Bertrand. I'm thinking about floating from Bertrand to Houseman in the hopes of catching some walleye, but I am a bit concerned doing this in my small solo canoe. Does the water get a little too big for a solo trip in a canoe? I guess I'm worried about big boats and wind the most. With Table Rock at 915, does that mean I'll basically be paddling in a lake?

You should be ok, I run from Holiday Island to 62 bridge and see people paddling it often. I would actually start off in Parker Bottoms and float it to Houseman, that will put you in the prime walleye areas. I havent heard of any good numbers yet. It should be comming on soon... If your casting a Fly for them I like brown sculpin patterns or 6'' brown or red san juan workms.

Above 62 bridge the only boats will be river boats and those are generally well mannered to waders and canoes. The "lake paddling" section will be from the 62 bridge to Houseman and that is only a mile or so and includes some excellent fishing water.

As of last week Tablerock was backed up to Spider creek resort. I wouldn't worry about bigger boats, but if there is any wind you will have to paddle quite a bit.
