I'll do what I can... Michael- you need to post the details and send us some flyers. The other shops by the dam should have some- also the hatchery. I heard about this back in May... hadn't heard anything since June so I wasn't sure it was going to happen- but glad it is.

This is a Charity Tournament and we can’t always count on weather and dam flows to cooperate. The fishing will go on regardless. This is for the Kids. And there will not be any returning of entry fees after October 9th 2006.

Some Rules may have to be adjusted for the conditions; this is what the meeting is for at 8:30 AM the day of the tournament.

TWO FLY RULES

TEAMS

A. Teams will consist of two fisherman who may arrange for alternates before tournament begins.

B. Judge will be present with contestants at all times.

EQUIPMENT

A. Contestants will furnish their own fly fishing equipment . Contestant may bring one additional fly rod, reel and line.

B. Type of fly rod, reel and fly line is left to the judgment of the individual contestant.

C. The use of fly floatant, lead weight, leaders or any other accessories may be used.

D. No real or artificial fish attractants such as scents are permitted.

THE CONTEST FLIES

A. Each contestant team will chose two flies at the time of registration on tournament day. Two conventional fly patterns (dry, wet, nymph, streamer, etc.) may be used as long as each individual fly is no larger than size #2 with a shank length not to exceed 4X.

B. Lead headed jigs or molded head jigs, Clouser Minnows, or flies with dumbbell eyes or bead heads are permissible as long as they do not exceed the size specification in “A” above.

C. All flies must be on a single barbless hook or a hook with the barb pushed closed.

D. Each contestant Team will choose the two fly patterns and color they will use and notify contest committee of the pattern prior to official fishing time so that it may be officially recorded. One sample fly of each pattern will be left with the committee.

E. Any contestant desiring to change one or both fly patterns during the competition day can purchase the privilege for $50.00, in the form of a donation to the YMCA, per fly pattern changed. There will be no limit to the number of switches for “compulsive fly changers” except for their capacity to donate to the YMCA Camp Wakonda.

F. Lost flies or flies with broken hooks may not be replaced from the contestant’s personal inventory.

G. Teams are limited to four flies total.

Only of those samples left with the committee.

FISHING PROCEDURE

A. Federal and State rules and regulations governing the waters to be fished will be strictly observed.

B. No intentional fishing to spawning fish.

C. All main river channels are fishable. Fishing hatchery outlets is not permitted above the flagged stake to the outlet.

D. Only trout species will be counted for scoring. Any other species will incur a $10.00 donation to YMCA Camp Wakonda.

E. Foul hooked fish of any species will incur a $10.00 donation. Foul hooked trout will not be scored and must be returned to the water immediately.

F. In the interest of safety, any competitor hooking the judge or other competitor will be penalized in the form of a $20.00 donation to the designated charity (a one time penalty).

G. Fishing* hours are from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Official scoring will cease promptly at 4:00pm.

H. Contestants teams will choose which person will fish. Contestants may alternate every 15min. if they wish, after the

judge is notified of the change. The contestants may help or guide the person fishing but will not handle the rod or line at any time,

or net any fish for the other.

SCORING

The intent of the TWO FLY scoring system is to minimize the needless handling of any fish caught while retaining the excitement of successfully landing a prized fish.

A. Only 4 trout will be scored from each afternoon and morning session. ( 8 fish total) The judge must witness the release of each fish to ascertain the fish is unharmed.

If a contestant only chooses to score one trout or fails to land any additional scoring fish, he will receive a zero (0) score for the remaining trout during the fishing session (see B, below for qualifying length).

B. Each contestant will decide whether to score the trout and notify the judge of his intent prior to netting the trout.

C. After 4 fish are measured the contestant must stop fishing.

D. All trout not chosen for scoring will be immediately released and preferably without removing them from the water.

E. All measurements will be performed by the judge are final. The judge will tabulate each trout on an official scoring sheet issued to each team for the competition. All scoring fish will be measured with their nose against the stop at the end of the measure and the rays of their tail compressed to achieve maximum measurement (in accordance with Missouri Game & Fish measuring procedure).

F. Each of the (8) fish selected for scoring during the tournament will be measured and will be rounded to the nearest ¼ ”.

· Any trout killed or ruled by the judge to be unable to survive will be counted against the contestants 4 fish per session score and will have no point value.

Must be received by October 9th,2006

The tournament went very well; we had three teams that fished entered. Two teams that no-showed. With some of the donations that were made by fisher people that were there, we made over $700.00 for the kids. It was a great day to be out fishing. The kids that were judges got a great intro to our sport. And they seemed to have a great time also. The biggest fish of the day was 16.5”. The fishing was hard and slow. There were probably over 100 people on the steam. With the positive response the tournament will be held again next year sometime.

Thank you to all that supported the day and a big thank you to the sponsors that made it happen.
