DD'sMC and I headed to Roaring River today. Figured the weather would be better today than tomorrow. It was frigid this morning so we took our time heading out the door to give the sun a chance to warm things up a little. We even decided to stop at Tim's Fly Shop before fishing this time instead of after. That was a good move on our part. It seems Tim has come up with a new fly that he and some others have been doing real well with the super pigs on the river. He gave me a sample to try and report back what I thought.

Well, I was impressed. The smaller fish were fighting over it. Almost every big fish I saw and threw it to at least came up and gave it a look. Several big fish nosed it more than once. Lost 3 monsters with it and did manage to land one about 4 pounds on it. You guys want to have a chance at some of the big boys down there, you need to stop by Tim's Fly Shop and pick up a couple of these flies. They are a worm fly, but the action is better than any chamois or san juan that I have ever tried. Thanks for the awesome day Tim! See ya down there in the morning.

Cool report and nice fish im still bumming i didnt get to get to a park in the winter. Perhaps a picture of the fly in question?

Fish always lose by being "got in and dressed." It is best to weigh them while they are in the water. The only really large one I ever caught got away with my leader when I first struck him. He weighed ten pounds.

I lost it on the big one. I'm gonna have to go buy some from Tim.
