Members Wildeye Posted February 17, 2012 Members Posted February 17, 2012 Coming down to camp for 9 days in mid march and chase stripers. We planned to bring a bunch of wood, but are considering buying a rick or half rick when we get down there to save hauling it across OK. Is it pretty easy to find firewood that time of year? We will be staying at Horseshoe or Hickory. Thanks for the help.
Stump bumper Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 There are plenty of places around here that sell wood for $35 a rick and craigslist always has some free wood. If you PM me around the time you are coming I will try to line some up. I have seen camp wood for sale on the way to Horseshoe before but it has been a while since I have drove that road. I know on 71B there is a lot across from Zero Mountain that always has wood also, just to let you know Striper chasing now is not bad.
Members Bass Ivy Posted February 17, 2012 Members Posted February 17, 2012 I know someone who sells wood. He lives North of Rogers toward Avoca. He will deliver it out there to you, if you want that option. Im not sure how much he gets for his wood, but anyway you can give him a call and he can help you out. 479-633-2059 the guys name is Roger.
Feathers and Fins Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Plenty of wood around right now, hasnt been that cold. I saw several stands out by Hickory Creek this week. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Members Wildeye Posted February 18, 2012 Author Members Posted February 18, 2012 Thanks guys. Wood delivered to campsite sounds awesome. Its killing me not being out in PC area reading all of these striper reports. Mid march we fish from the end of the rivers up about as far as PC. Hopefully we can catch some good fish this year. Will let you all know how we do.
Feathers and Fins Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 If this weather pattern holds by mid march I would be starting at PC and working down the lake no further the RB concentrating to points and flats only. The points would be a dawn to 9am and 4 to dark with topwater baits and Bucktails. The rest of the day I would be working flats with Umbrella rigs and swim baits. Now if Old Man Winter shows up and kicks in some serious cold for Late Feb early March then I would be looking from PC to HSB on the flats and pockets. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Members Wildeye Posted February 18, 2012 Author Members Posted February 18, 2012 Knowing my luck the weather will hold out until i get there, then a big snow storm will move in. Last year caught them from 12 to Beaver Shore area, all on bait behind boards and balloons. Really enjoy your posts F n F, will check in with you when the time gets closer.
