I just started tying a few months ago and i had been buying my stuff at bass pro but i am sure i can get the same thing for less even if i went the ebay route.

And i was just wondering if a few people could direct me to some good websites

Lilley's Landing carries alot of stuff. Anglers and Archery has some along with River Run Outfitters and Bass Pro at the Landing. If you want something and cant find it, Phill has always offered to order it for me. Those are the 4 places closest to you. Tim's Fly shop at Roaring River has a great selection and Back Country Outfitters in Springfield is another place to go. Plenty of places in this area to get stuff

Sorry, I did not read all of your post. On line places can be a little cheaper but after shipping not really. Of course BPS, Cabellas, and everything else is online, but the prices are the same. Orvis.com is the same way if not more. Jstockard.com is another good one. And you can try JansNetCraft.com

I try to get everything at Rainbow in KC, but if I have to go online I always try BlueQuillAngler first because they have good prices and free s/h on almost everything, the drawback is they don't carry THAT much.

Second choice is docsflybox.com, they seem to have about everything under the sun for fly tying, good prices, and decent s/h charges.

Prices can vary, especialy on line. The downside is that often it will be on just a few items and how much you spend. There are places online that offer $5 shipping down to none if you puchase enough, and that figure can also vary also.

In my experience the places above are all very competative, but when you add in sales tax you might be able to save if you're looking for something in particular and intend to buy enough to make ordering worthwhile.

For example Bass Pro gets over $8 for 25 Gami B10S hooks, online they run under $6 and if you buy a 100 I know a place that runs under $5.

Backcountry Outfitters is usually cheaper than Bps. The only time I order stuff online is for like grab bags from cabelas where you get a lot of material.

IMO, Backcountry is the best in Springfield. I have ordered from Caddis Fly Shop (thecaddisfly.com). They have a huge selection, no sales tax, and free shipping if you spend $25. I think shipping is only $2.50 if you have to pay for it. Bps sucks for tying- minimal selection, and what they do have is more expensive than anyplace else.
