timsfly Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Fished Crane today with Russ Doughty, he is a hoot to fish with, everybody should fish with the elderly once in awhile just for the fun of it Russ did very well today despite having a 10' fly rod, he spent most of the time either hung up in the weeds, in the trees over head or snagged up on the bottom, I would love to be selling him flies. He did manage 4, that all totaled might have been 12" in length. I only managed 6 but I did get a lot of fun out of the day, watching Russ cast once, then retye the leader, cast again, retye again and the fun didn't stop very long, Like watching bull in a china shop. But the creek was full of trout, we saw a lot of nice fish, just didn't hook up with many, I landed most of mine on a san juan worm, I think Russ got two on the casual dress and two on an egg(glo-ball) I caught one on a dry, and one on a crawfish pattern, that Harvey Ragsdale showed me. Creek is very low and we did see a few fish on beds, but not very many. We stayed away from the spawning trout. duckydoty Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 I like fishing with Russ. You should have had him low crawling to the holes with that 10 ft rod. Would have love to seen that. I asked him what he was gonna do with that rod there. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
