Morning guys, this is the first time I have posted in this section. Mainly been posting in the Beaver Lake section before. I am pretty familiar with Roaring River (was halfway raised there back in the 80's and first couple years of the 90's). My grandpa and grandma used to take my brother and I up there on opening day, spring break, and weeks at a time in the summer. Memories were made that will last a lifetime. You might remember us Tim, but that was along time ago, back when you worked at the lodge. Just a couple of blonde headed boys from Oklahoma who loved to fish, trailing along behind grandpa, who, God rest his soul, was our hero!

My brother and I are coming down for opening day and a couple more days this week to fish and reminisce. Both of us have just been to busy for a few years now to get up there much.

I'll quit rambling and get to the point here. I was wondering if the free fishing days are really crowded up there? I am the leader of our Men's Ministry group at our church and that Saturday just happens to fall right in line with an open weekend we have. Was looking at maybe bringing between 10 - 15+ men up there, but wasn't sure about the crowd? Do they stock the river even though no tags are bought? Is it any more crowded than a normal Saturday? Saving money is not the reason for that date, although that is nice, so if you guys think another weekend would be better let me know. Also, where is a reasonable place to lodge that many men?

Thanks for any info.

Not sure what you mean by crowded, 1500 or so will be here on a good free fishing weekend, better the weather more people will show.

The place right beside my shop, Roaring River Resort, I thinkl will handle that many guys, call them at 417-845-3235

I guess by crowded, I mean what is it comparable to opening day crowds? Thanks for the info on the resort.

This is the Ozarks, sir... Where "if it's free it's for me... I'll take three!!"

It'll be packed. But don't let that stop you! Plenty of opportunity for witnessing to fishermen as they undo their tangled lines and such, ya know.. Might just win over a few souls!! :)

I might get irritated and lose my own soul in the process FishinCricket!!!!! lol Sorry us Okies and Arkies swarm you guys. I have met some great people up there over the years though and then some not so great. Most of these guys haven't fished much for trout, so I may just bring them another weekend. Thanks guys.

Well you know how bullish those fishermen can be.. ;)

Whatever you do just don't bring your felt soul.

You should bring them on that weekend, it will save each person several dollars in out of state fees.
