Members Chris J Posted March 5, 2012 Members Posted March 5, 2012 I was wanting to come down to camp with the kids and white bass fish when they run. I was down there about 10 years ago and had a blast. I just cant remember when is was they get up in the creek. My question is when would be a good time to hit the run in swan creek( no boat)? Is the campground full around that time? Any info will help, cant just run around and find the fish like back when gas was 1 dollar a gallon.
duckydoty Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Right around the 1st week of April has usually been the peak of the run, of course, depending on weather. Beaver Creek is very close to that camp ground along with the pothole. The camp ground usually seems like it has a few open spots that time of year too. Keep watching the forum and you'll know when it starts to get hot down there. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 It appears that River Run will be open also. I think they might be a little early this year, but who knows how early if at all. They will be in the upper end and at the pothole longer that in Swan or Beaver and if we don't get to much rain they'll be in reach of the bank. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Members heyiou Posted March 6, 2012 Members Posted March 6, 2012 I took the kids out yesterday. Caught a couple nice whites from the shore between Swan and the dam. We fished the mouth of Swan right before dark and nothing. I would say they will be early this year with the mild winter and the looks of the ones I caught. They still seem to be in deeper water than Swan, but not much deeper.
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Here's an update. Shadow Rock is open to people displaced and/or involved in the recovery in Branson, for free. I don't know what exactly this will mean for the park or when it will end, just passing it on. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Members Chris J Posted March 18, 2012 Author Members Posted March 18, 2012 Well i went down fri and sat, whites are not there just yet.( just saw a few) There was a ton of little LM bass kids loved catching on minnows and bobber. Caught an 18'' Walleye on minnow in the mouth of swan, caught a few trout at the top of the dam.
Members walker04 Posted March 18, 2012 Members Posted March 18, 2012 thanks for update, been wondering if they were there yet
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 I would imagine some will vbe caught in the lower end this weekend. It will take some rain to get them over the shoal and up around Kirbyville road. They may just have what they need soon it appears. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Daveinozark Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 I'd be interested in knowing when the run is going, since I'm planning a trip with the wife and kids. I'd take a weekday off to come down to avoid crowds. I'm thinking around April 5th
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 The run in Swan is never very long, time wise. It's hard to say that far ahead. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
