Hey jOrOb! I've checked every Wal-Mart and yarn store within a 100 mile radious of my home and have not been able to find the green jungle jive color you used for your disco bugger. I've found black and purple (which I quickly bought and tied some up with), but no green, brown or white. Do you have any local suppliers down your way? Or, would you be interested in trading some black and or purple for some of the other colors.

I have found a couple of places on the net to order it if it comes to that.

Thanks

John

John,

I've got your address from the last fly swap and I've got more disco jungle jive than I can use. I'll mail you some tomorrow.

I will be glad to swap some. I bought mine at Wal Mart, but it is a huge quantity so I haven't bought any in awhile.

You can also try Michaels or another craft store...

Or... you can buy it online at this website....

Is it called Bernat disco yarn? I could only find it at my Walmart in blue and maroon. But I think I found it online if anyone is interested. Here it is:

I think I'm going to order some green. Are any other colors especially effective?

thanks,

Greg

I really like the way the black has purple flash in it. Looks like a winner to me. But then if I was a fish I wouldn't get very big.

I have been experimenting, and have come up with a pretty effective way to add a tail.

After you tie in, extend about 1 to 2 inches. Clamp on your hackle pliers. Now spin the crap out of it. It takes a number of spins, and you want it pretty tight. Now double the material back from your hackle pliers to the tie in point. This should leave one half spun really tight and the other jus there. Tie it in to hold it. Now release the hackle pliers and allow the two sections to twist up on each other. Now pick out the tail and palmer the body.

I have seen this technique used with a really long dubbing loop to make tails and it works pretty well. I like the one continuous material concept. It is really durable.

The material I use is called Bernat disco yarn. The website Greg found is exactly the ticket and is pretty reasonable. I think I paid over $5 for mine.

I didn't see that really intense purple on this site, but you know how photos can be. I have been considering the Brown, and possibly a two color model mixing the silver.

Thanks John,

I don't have those colors yet. I haven't thrown my disco bugger yet and I'm certainly looking forward to it. If you need anything else holler.

Thanks again.....Don
