Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 21, 2005 Root Admin Posted December 21, 2005 It'd be cool to identify the strains of rainbow in Taney- I've pulled a few pics of rainbows caught. they are taken at different times of year so colors will vary.
loo10 Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 This would be a neat thing to find out about but I imagine there are many, many combined strains. Like people, different fish pick up different traits of their ancestors. Thanks for the pictures. Given a choice...I'd take 3rd from the top. Wayne SW/MO Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 This might be of interest to some. Missouri Strains There are some others on the MDC site, but since the new look was adopted I've had problems pulling up information and this is an example. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Murdoc Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 This is another great example of how we are blessed here in the Ozark's. We need to thank someone everyday and take care of it. No where else is there so much great and beautiful nature. Thanks for the pictures!!! Smiles are free http://rdpflyrods.com/
tippet7 Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 The 1st 2 photos is of me and my brother. Both fish were caught the same day Oct 30th within 2 hours or so of each other. Notice how much more of a brownish color my brothers fish has? Where my fish is bigger, but not as colorful. I have caught 10lb rainbows in the Frying Pan River in Colorado and the colors were incredible. And I know they get their bright red from the shrimp coming through the dam. But why is there such a color difference here on Taneycomo? You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
