Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted September 21, 2006 Root Admin Posted September 21, 2006 Dries- stimulators, elk hair, hunpies, renegades, big ugly, crackleback Nymphs- scuds in tan, gray, olive... thread, zebra midges Egg flies- small San Juan Worms That's generally the flies plus some. There's lots of variations of each.
Terry Beeson Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 And there is the ever popular Wooly Bugger... Black, Olive, White.... Of course, you forgot to tell him about the PowerBait fly, Phil.... TIGHT LINES, YA'LL "There he stands, draped in more equipment than a telephone lineman, trying to outwit an organism with a brain no bigger than a breadcrumb, and getting licked in the process." - Paul O’Neil

Thom Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Papamike: Stop by one of the flyshops near the dam or on the water like Lilly's and talk to them. They have current advice on what to fish, how, where. They offer good quality flies at a reasonable price. Try a few and if they work or offer promise try tying some of your own. The conditions can change daily so they are your best bet for current information. If you can afford it ... hiring a guide for 1/2 day can give you a running start on your trip. Sometimes getting their expertise for a fair price is much better than waisting a couple of days finding out what is working and where. For the most part they are a nice bunch of guys. Thom Harvengt
