Members kirbydog Posted March 28, 2012 Members Posted March 28, 2012 I think you're gonna need more than one rod because of the weight of different lures you'll be throwing. I'd get a 6'6" medium action rod with a fast tip-a great all around rod that will handle anything from 1/8oz to 1/2 or 5/8. For the heavier stuff like heavy jigs, deep diving cranks, etc I'd get a 7' medium heavy again with a fast tip. You need to decide on the price range you can live with but decent rods can be found for between $50 and $100. And Wayne you're right, Berkley lighning rods are great value for the money.
Members walker04 Posted March 29, 2012 Author Members Posted March 29, 2012 great advice and tips guys, thanks a lot! Rod to men are like shoes to women I think. 1 isn't enough, and you need 1 for every occassion. I do like the ugly sticks, but they are heavy. I haven't tried the "lite" ones though, may be interested in that.
