I think you're gonna need more than one rod because of the weight of different lures you'll be throwing.

I'd get a 6'6" medium action rod with a fast tip-a great all around rod that will handle anything from 1/8oz to 1/2 or 5/8. For the heavier stuff like heavy jigs, deep diving cranks, etc I'd get a 7' medium heavy again with a fast tip.

You need to decide on the price range you can live with but decent rods can be found for between $50 and $100.

And Wayne you're right, Berkley lighning rods are great value for the money.

great advice and tips guys, thanks a lot! Rod to men are like shoes to women I think. 1 isn't enough, and you need 1 for every occassion. I do like the ugly sticks, but they are heavy. I haven't tried the "lite" ones though, may be interested in that.
