Members mattie Posted March 31, 2012 Members Posted March 31, 2012 Im new to the area and have never fished Stockton before but im in search of walleye. I know if i ask the age old qustion "where you catching them" in the water will be the answer. So is around the dam main lake points east or west of the dam better. Please just help narrow it down alittle, boat fuel is to high to troll over useless water in search of tasty toothy fish. Thanks and i will post post-fishing success or failure to help everyone. Thanks Mattie
duckydoty Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 I'll second that A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
rps Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 mattie: powerdive is a regular walleye type - well not regular, as he's way too weird to be called regular - but he has fished walleye tournaments on Stockton and knows whereof he speaks. I have not fished Stockton or I would tell more. Good luck.
kwall Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 The flats May thru July ( north of Mutton west side)
powerdive Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 The points on the west side of the lower lake are larger and less steep than those on the east side. They all hold walleyes, but trolling a contour is much easier on the west side, and the fish are there in all seasons. Work both main lake and secondaries. Start your trolling season shallow, generally--10, 12, 15 feet max--clear water bothers fishermen more than it does the fish. Good luck!
