BTW, if you were turning some decent fish that is half the fun. I think Justin promised that he would eliminate 90% of the traffic on the river for us. That is what keeps us coming back.

There was a decent bit of traffic on the water: canoes, floaters, and a jetboat (is that prohibited?). So if your going on the weekend in April and its as hot as it was, then expect crowds.

Once the temps get up the lower river is pretty crazy......I floated the upper end both Saturday and Sunday and saw a total of 2 kayaks. By the way, the jetboat guy was one of the conservation agents on his day off, and a really good friend of mine. We had dinner with them that night and he told me about your "issue" ;)

Did you use the loop and pull method of removal? Been there man, that sucks.

please tell me the barb was crimped. That pic makes me cringe.

I'm afraid we talked about pinching the barbs on streamers that morning, and said that neither of us do it because if we lost a monster due to that we'd be heartbroken, so I bet it had a big fat meat ripping barb on it.

It was actually Zeke that got that dungeon in his arm. I was on the sticks when it happened. All I heard was a "whap!". He turned around and was like "duuuuuude!!".

The agent did tell us to use the fishing line yank method. I told Zeke that I thought it would work. He wasn't on board with that and he wanted to have control so he poked it through his skin, cut the hook at the barb, and slid it out. I think I would have done the yanking method. Was that hook past the barb in your shoulder Brian? Did it leave any damage on the way out?

Yep. Zeke thinks that now he's been stuck, he knows "what its like" for those browns, and has "felt their pain", therefore increasing the chances of catching a monster haha

FISH Karma! The monster will be mine! lol. If there's a next time, and there will be, I will try the snatch method. However, pushing it through was not that bad. I would do it again. I think that I will start crimping those big barbs though!

Uh, yeah....that was a 4/0 popper that we were using in the North Woods for Musky and there was barely enough bend of the hook to even wrap mono around it--it was almost flush with my skin. It was a good one. I had ripped (ripped may be a bit harsh) a lot of trout sized hooks up to size 2 out of people, and myself but that 4/0 was a totally different thing and we were not sure it would even work. Popped out and I didn't even feel it.

On the bright side i dont think either, the 8089 or the B10s have a very large barb on them, but that still had to hurt. I've had to use the loop and pull method.. it works.
