strangercreek Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 If I purchase a graphite rod blank, are the ferrules already built into the blank? When looking at rod components in catalogs and online, I don't see them listed anywhere. I have not taken a close look at any new blanks so I am not sure. I am going to use a TFO TICR 9' 5wt blank.
Danoinark Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 The ferrules are built into the blank. Remember though to be sure and do thread wraps and epoxy over about an inch or so of the female ferrule. This is for strength as this is one of the weak points in your blank. Luke Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Dano is absolutely correct. If you have any other questions, Rodbuilding.org has a good FAQ that will answer most if not all questions you can have about rodbuilding. If you can't find an answer there, I suggest asking on their forums. --Luke
strangercreek Posted September 24, 2006 Author Posted September 24, 2006 Thanks. I also stopped by Cabela's and looked at some blanks and I see what Dano is talking about.
