So, I've been twice and fished based on water temps. It's the strangest year I can remember in my life. I've been fishing that lake about 8 times per year for about 15 years now. Not an expert, but starting to learn it. THIS year, I'm getting my butt kicked. I was down there twice in the last few weeks. Stunk up the joint BOTH times. Fished from Grand Glaize to Hurricane Deck. I based my approach on water temps............they were around 60. So, to me, they should have been getting ready to spawn. BUT.......turns out they WERE NOT!!!! Caught basically nothing. Talked to many guys at the ramp that were still fishing traditional Feb/Mar patterns - jerk baits on main lake points and nowadays, the A-Rig.

Haven't been in two weeks, but thinking about going down again in a few weeks. Curious what you guys are finding success on. I see the water temps are now past the traditional spawning temps. Are they up shallow on beds yet? Are they just making it to secondary points? I can't figure out if they'll be in POST spawn, on spawn, or PRE spawn in 3-4 weeks?? I'm just hoping to actually catch a couple next time I make it down there.

Who's fishing the LOZ?? Please help me figure out this crazy odd year!

Thanks.

Just talked with a guy who fished it today and he saw several people trying to entice the fish off their beds with small plastics to no avail. He finally got on a topwater pattern that produced a few fish. He was working a topwater bait slow and just letting it sit there. He thinks topwater at night would be the ticket if you have the chance.

Can't seem to ever do the night fishing. Usually it's a get up, drive down, fish all day and get home before the wife beats me over the head with a frying pan kinda thing. I was wondering if topwater was working well. I've always been a dock flipper. I like it when the bite is behind the docks and under the walkways, but I just haven't found any fish there yet.
