Question for ya - I drive a Grand Cherokee and to compensate for my 9' 8# I have to lay the seats down, and even then it is still getting into my dash. So are putting a 9' up there and is it gettin into your windshield a lot? I also realize the 4Runner and my Jeep are probably differing in cab sizes.

Ya I can put a full 9 footer in there. My buddy built one in his 2006ish Grand Cherokee and it works. The 9 foot rods definitely touch the windshield and curve down a bit but its not bad. It does help to have a longer cab but I think it should work in a Cherokee- just a guess though.

What did he attach the paracord to? I looked at my cab while I was at lunch and there didn't seem to be much to tie too

I think he attached it to those little plastic hanger things in the back and the handles in the middle. Like I wrote on there- I took the plastic hangers off and just used the bare screws but I know all interiors are different. Anything you could tie to would work and you will just have to modify the basic idea to whichever vehicle you have.
