Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted September 27, 2006 Root Admin Posted September 27, 2006 What's up with the water? Everyone asks me so I thought I'd ask myself...? I don't know. It ran this evening 2 units strong. I got to #2 outlet at 10 pm. Leonard and 2 friends- chad and another fellow I can't recall his name (forgive me) and still 2 units. One dropped off slowly about 11 pm. They caught a few small rainbows and one or two browns I think. I was there to try to get a pic for a night fishing article... of course all we could get was this rainbow. Oh well- it was good practice.
Micheal Kyle Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Now you know how I feel.(LOL) I think that the SWPA sometimes sells more power than was needed so they are contracted to run anyway. I could be wrong. Becuase it sure does get frustrating. Michael To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
Terry Beeson Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 What is that thing hanging out of the fish's mouth? (besides your finger...) That looks from here to be a woven pink SJW? motroutbum Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Man I sure am GLAD that im not missing out on much....especially all those suckers. HAHAHAHA.... Hey michael...i forgot to ask how you liked the Hard Alox reels. The HALS 2 that i have been fishing since the FFR is freakin amazing There are two types of people. Those who dream dreams and wish, then there are the do'ers. I am a do'er!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted September 27, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted September 27, 2006 I'm going to boat tonight if they run it. I need a brown!!
Micheal Kyle Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 It sucks when the pressure is on to catch a brown for a story. But if you try hard enough it could happen. I fished with Kenny Kieser a couple of weeks ago for a brown trout story for the Kansas City Paper and I just got lucky and caught a nice brown on my second cast It was the only brown I caught all night. Pressure thats why I quit the bass fishing thing. Good Luck I got the dubbing all mixed up and on the wall Phil Give me a call and let me know which colors and how many you want. Leonard Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 well here is a few pictures from last night... we had a GREAT night... we all caught a few fish... and Willy caught the brown.. chad got the rainbow... http://www.taneycomonights.com
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted September 28, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted September 28, 2006 Here's ours from tonight... cute little thing. Water ran- we didn't do well.
jdavis Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 I took a day off of work Friday so I could fish tonight. I will not be happy if they run the water like they have the last few nights. Has anyone tried to fish up by the dam with the water running? Is it worth making the trip? Should I bring a spinning rod? Is there any sign that they may change this crazy generation pattern? I can't immagine why they need to generate electricity in the middle of the night. Especially when the weather is mild and the lake is low.
Micheal Kyle Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 I would be shocked if they did not run the water. At night when they run one or even two units I will fish Outlet 1 that seems to be the most productive way. It comes back far enough that you can stand out of the current and fish. I will fish the streamers out in the current and strip back to me. You will need to have a sink tip 150gr works the best for me. I love the wooly sclupin when they are running the water. Come by and I will show you waht they are. Like I have said in the past it most be contracted power that they have already sold. Michael To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
