Terry Beeson Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Really? With deer? Hummm... Most state G&F, DNR, or DCs put them in a category by themselves and require a "big game" license to hunt them. However, they still do fall under the category "upland bird" since they are a bird, don't migrate, and live out of the water... in the "upland".... Maybe Ben Franklin wasn't so dumb after all... TIGHT LINES, YA'LL "There he stands, draped in more equipment than a telephone lineman, trying to outwit an organism with a brain no bigger than a breadcrumb, and getting licked in the process." - Paul O’Neil
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted September 28, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted September 28, 2006 I'll leave them with the deer and elk and see if I catch a bunch of trouble for it...
Wayne SW/MO Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 I think the bottom line isn't what they're called, but the fact that there is an industry built around pursuing them. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I wouldn't be so smart to fly a kite in those storms that hit northern Arkansas last week. Big Bad Ben would have hung right in there. The wuss.....Don Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
Kicknbass Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 The MDC manage fall turkeys just like and in the same regulation packet as deer check out the MDC webpage. Hunting them is more similar to deer hunting than upland game. Standing, stalking and calling with out the use of dogs. Which is much differant the upland hunting. I would leave them w/ the big game. gonefishin Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 lets not forget the Double breasted mattress thrasher, indiginous to the entire north american continent Where and how do you hunt them? What does a licence cost? Record size? Mounting fees? I would rather be fishin'. "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." Benjamin Franklin, 1759
crappiefisherman Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 license fee aint to bad. record size is always ten pounds lighter then actual, you can find them most anywhere, now the mounting fee depends on how fancy the resturant is. sorry lilley.Have a wonderful day. [ [
Micheal Kyle Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 That is FUNNY I think that the Turkey is well enough to have thier own spot. They are considered upland birds since they do not migrate just like Terry said. Hey Phil if you would like me to help on the Turkey Thread just let me know. I'm on Knight&Hales prostaff and know Quite a few people that might get on board with it. NOT THAT MEANS ANYTHING JUST GOT LUCKY ONE DAY. Michael To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
