Members Matthew12 Posted April 24, 2012 Members Posted April 24, 2012 Hey guys, some friends of mine and I are planning on floating the buffalo for the first time this coming weekend 4/27-4/29. We float very slow and fish very hard. We usually float around 8-10 miles in a three day float. From the research that I have done, I see that the river is pretty low right now, what might be the best stretch of river for us. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Plastic_worm Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 The lower end is just right for fishing in my opinion...slow enough to fish and deep enough to not drag. I like Gilbert to maumee or maumee to dillards ferry (hwy14 bridge)...if you're only doing 8-10 miles. I really like to fish Rush to the white....but that's around 27 miles over 3 day's....however you'll be fishing area's that don't get the fished hard and you may not see anyone. gotmuddy Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 FWIW, I would not call the river low by any means. It is prime for fishing right now. You will cover more water than you think you will. The buffalo will go half a mile with water that is 2ft deep and a bottom of slab limestone, then there might be a hole a half mile long that is 10ft deep. Obviously you will be skipping the 2ft deep section. I would float from hwy 14 bridge to rush. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
