Members Mulnik Posted May 8, 2012 Members Posted May 8, 2012 Fished the lower end for a little while this weekend and could not keep the crappie off the hook! All of them were in the 7-9 inch range. The kids had a great time catching them. We were using jigs of any color. Just drop them down and pull in the fish.
Members Beagle_nut Posted May 12, 2012 Members Posted May 12, 2012 Any hints on where you caught them? Creeks? Docks?
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted May 12, 2012 Root Admin Posted May 12, 2012 Cool! I've heard the crappie are thick on the lower end. Still catching a few up here. High water did wonders for all fish here on Taneycomo last year.
Members Mulnik Posted May 12, 2012 Author Members Posted May 12, 2012 We were catching them on any timber in the coves. I took my son out again thursday evening for his birthday and we caught around 30. There not big but fun to catch. Any color jig works you just have to be quick to hook them, they attack it when it hits the water. It should be good until they start running alot of water and the temp drops.
Members Beagle_nut Posted May 13, 2012 Members Posted May 13, 2012 Thanks for the report, it's nice to have something different to try for other than trout when the wife and I come down. I haven't had much luck with the bass so next time I'll tie on a crappie jig and give it a shot.
Members Crappie Fisherman Posted May 25, 2012 Members Posted May 25, 2012 Tried it Tuesday and couldn't catch even one. Are you still catching some?
