straw hat Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Catfish are definetly on the rocks at Stockton. Getting ready to spawn. Between Fri night and today We came up with 5 channels from 1.5 to 5.5 lbs. All caught in 12 to 16' of water on steep rocky banks. Males had been working nests. Time to hit them guys.
fox_76 Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Think I might try it tonight any advice on bait? I didn't go to college,... I was too busy learning stuff. --Ted Nugent
straw hat Posted May 16, 2012 Author Posted May 16, 2012 I know everybody says fresh cut bait, especially shad. BUT I guess that is not for me. I have two hooks on each of my rods. I always pu a minnow on the top hook and either worms or fresh cut bait on the bottom hook. I always catch the channels on the minnows. I mean like 95% of the time. I don't understand wh, maybe I don't spit on the worms right. lol
straw hat Posted May 16, 2012 Author Posted May 16, 2012 PS. If you scrape a off some scales on one side of the minnow before using them then they seem to do better. Good Luck Let us know how you do.
fox_76 Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Thanks I didn't get to go lastnight, had a church block party to go to with the kids, I am definetlly going to hit it up in the next couple of days, Any one know where to buy minnows in the bolivar area? don't know if they still sell em in Fair Play or not,... ? Members River Rat Randy Posted May 17, 2012 Members Posted May 17, 2012 My boys & I have been catching some cats on Pomme. Straw, do you use regular size crappie minnows, or big shiners?
straw hat Posted May 17, 2012 Author Posted May 17, 2012 My boys & I have been catching some cats on Pomme. Straw, do you use regular size crappie minnows, or big shiners? Definitely big shiners. Two to three inch size. You can get them at Tranthems in Springfield.
