Fish Bork Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Fished Sunday afternoon from 4-6pm just down from Hootentown. Caught around 15 smallies two over 14 inches. Didn't get into the spots or largmouth like I usually do there but still caught some decent fish. Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
Terry Beeson Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 FB, I "discovered" Hootentown on an excursion last weekend. I wondered if there was any wadable water in that area. I also went to another MDC access (can't remember the name) quite a ways upstream and looked like there could be some action there... but nobody was fishing there. Were you floating, boating, wading? Swear I heard "Duelin' Banjos" playin' in the background as I drove down there... Buy, hey... I'm an Arkie hillbilly... those are my kin.... Wayne SW/MO Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Terry I'm surprised you'd notice. There's also a Delaware Town access above Shelvin. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Members Drew711 Posted October 7, 2006 Members Posted October 7, 2006 Terry, there is some good wadable water downstream from both places. At Hootentown, downstream from the highway bridge down past the campground has good water. When the water is up the long riffle/run by the campground can produce some fun fishing. I fished Shelvin Rock on Wednesday and actually caught a nice smallie right at the access point right off the bat. Did well on flukes by the way. I've only gone downstream from Shelvin Rock, but there is good water there. My personal opinion is both areas get slammed but they are an easy get away and close proximity to Springfield to wet a line
