Members jet fisher Posted October 2, 2006 Members Posted October 2, 2006 I have never been on the Bryant or th NFWR. Can anyone tell me about launching a jet powered john boat at Hwy. 160 Park and running up to th Junction Hole and then up the two river arms?
Al Agnew Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Isn't there a falls right at the junction? Also, Bryant is flowing considerably less than 200 cfs right now. I've found that on the rivers I'm more familiar with, you really need 250-300 cfs to safely run a jetboat. You can probably do it at 150 cfs if you don't mind sucking some gravel.
Members jet fisher Posted October 3, 2006 Author Members Posted October 3, 2006 Thanks of the info. Don't know about the falls at the Junction, never been there before. Anybody have any knowledge of these falls at the junction Hole?
catman70 Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Don't know much about the draft of jet boats, but we usually scrape on what is being referred to as "the falls" in a canoe. Might try , though. Even if you can't get up you could always fish downstream from the bridge. I've seen many empty trailers at that launch, but never seen a boat above those ripples.
steve l Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Or better yet, don't, and use the jet boat on streams already plagued with them.

Brian Wise Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 There are no "falls" on either river until you get to Dawt Mill dam on the North Fork. We do have pretty low water on both rivers and I honestly can't recommend taking a boat very far up either one. I'd say just a little ways up the Bryant would be ok but I don't think you would make it very far very easy. Brian My Youtube Channel
Gavin Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 A couple friends of mine ran a section of the lower Bryant in a 1448/20hp jet this spring but the water was a lot higher than it is know. The same fellow runs the NFoW in his jet, but you really cant go that far on the NFoW or the Bryant because of all the obstructions (low water bridges, ledges, etc.). I'd take a canoe or kayak instead. They are a lot easier to drag over a gravel bar. Cheers.
steve l Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Can't figure out how to reply to a specific post, but to post #6 essentially yes I did. I happen to think the jet boats are a blight on the rivers. Other can agree, disagree or not care, but that is me.
