Fished Friday out of Shell Knob, going up the white toward Eagle Rock.

Started early, and really didn't see any topwater fish until later in the morning. Lots and Lots of suspended fish in the 26 to 35 ft. depth range over out to 50ft. with some on the bottom in the 30 ft. range.

First 3 drops of the day we had keepers on a a small purple dropshot worm. Thought it was going to be awsome. That was the only fish we could catch on that spot, as it was holding plenty of fish and they would literally charge the dropshot, and then stop and just melt away from it.

Kept moving and moving and on each location, I could see plenty of fish but could catch only 1 or 2.

About 11 am fish started to surface off a long flat point in the Big M area and we were able to catch 3 solid keepers throwing a jigging spoon as far as we could to these chasers. Lots of shad in the cove mouth with fish holding in and below them and they bit the dropshot pretty well.

22 total on the 1/2 day trip with 6 good keepers, including a really nice 4Plus lb. Smalljaw.

SKMO pretty much fished the same water on Saturday and had a very similar result with 19 fish and several really nice keepers.

Sunday, was a complete change, with everyone including Beck suffering abit. SKMO said he could see em stacked up in the 30 plus ft. range, but they just would not bite.

I melted the paint and plowed furrows all over the knob, with the football jig and only got a short. SK reported they had a couple of very quality fish but not many bites on the jig, either.

This hot weather is just not going to help in the least, and will probably put the bite off for another couple of weeks at least. Shucks!

I have 9 guide trips on the rock in 7 days starting on Wed. will try and let you know how bad I'm doing and what I am stinking it up on.

Bill I hope your luck changes.

Two of us fished Sat. up the White from Baxter to Campbell Pt. and up the James from Pt. 11 to point 14. We caught fish but only had one keeper. We fished deep and we fished shallow but overall the fishing was very tough.

Had a club tournament Friday 29th from 6pm to midnight out of Long Creek. Hit a couple spot we had pre-fished earlier that week with no luck then right before dark we hit out honey hole. A long flat off of a bluff point with deep channel drop off. Caught some short fish then a keeper, then right at dark my partner caught his 4.8 lbs. throwing the shaky head, watermelon red flake, green pumpkin purple zoom finesse worm 25 to 35 ft range from the flat to the drop off. Moved from there to another bluff chunk rock transition point to catch his smallie and a couple other good hits. Pretty slow after that until about 11 when we went back to our spot. Partner wasn’t feeling so great so his fishing slowed down . 11:52 caught a fish tossed him in the boat to measure 14 1/2 threw him back and left for weigh in. Ended up winning big bass. and got beat out of first by little over a pound. 1st had 5 fish at 11 some lbs ours 3 fish 10 something. Lots of keepers caught that night and a huge 4.10 lb walleye caught that someone brought in. Others admit to loosing lots of big fish so the night was good.

Hey guys headed out on monday after school. I got out on the water at about 2 o'clock and fished around the joe bald area again. Pulled up to a main lake hump and caught a fish while I was tring to teach a guy how to drop shot on my first drop. We had five fish in the boat in the first half an hour. At this spot the fish were suspended at 40 ft. My boat was sitting in 70 ft of water. After the half an hour I could still see fish below but they quit taking our bait.

We then pulled up to another hump and fished the deep side of it. Once again on my first drop I caught a nice spotted bass. After that we missed two bites and the action slowed.

oh ya. I was using night crawlers because I wanted to catch fish while my buddy was with me. Made a world of difference. I would recommend it to anyone who is trying to fiqure the rock out or how to drop shot.

total=5 keeper bass (with the biggest being about 3.5) and a nice sized bluegill.
