Members ctadel24 Posted May 19, 2012 Members Posted May 19, 2012 We are bone dry here in Arkansas and are headed to the Elk to do some smallmouth fishing. Gonna head up sunday night camp then float monday and tuesday. Was wanting some suggestions as to what sections won't be crowded with people and offer the best fishing. Monday we will be up for a longer float 6+ miles, but tuesday a float around 6 miles would be what we are looking for. Also will big sugar be an option? Kind of threw this together was hoping for some rain so we could head to crooked creek but that never happened. Thank you for any advice CT
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted May 19, 2012 Root Admin Posted May 19, 2012 I'm going to move this to the Elk River forum because it won't be seen by the guys who you need to hear from here in General Angling
OKFlyFisher44 Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 It should be rather floatable by canoe or kayak right now and very floatable if the rain raises the flows any at all. For the long float, do Pineville to Mt Shira as I believe it's around 8-9 miles? Tons of good water to fish and it's a nice float. For the short float, I would do Riverside to Mt. Shira as it's 5-6 miles I think? Or you could float Indian Creek from Lanagan City Park to the confluence with Elk River and then float on down to Mt. Shira. Contact Russ at Hog Haven for shuttles. They r great folks... Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream...
