DaddyO Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Looking for some place to wade fish during high water instead of fishing the outlets and fighting the crowds. I was googling the area around Branson and Holister and I noticed Turkey Creek. It looks like I could park in the back parking lot of the Pizza joint and access the creek from there. Would it be worth the time and effort to do this? Could I expect to find trout and smallmouth? Have any of you guys fished that area? Thanks, DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
Snow Fly Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Daddyo : I have fished the area you are talking about....have done well on trout in the winter and early spring, might have to much warm water at this time or it is close to the end for trout to be located...warm water fish should be present...check with the owners of the parking area, sometimes they do not want to cooperate............good fishing! Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted May 25, 2012 Root Admin Posted May 25, 2012 I doubt if you find much there. Turkey doesn't have much water in it when there's no rain. Very few springs. I'd think Bull Creek would be better but again, all creeks are low right now.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 I agree with Phil. Turkey is gonna be pretty much empty of anything but suckers and chub. Having just looked at it the other day... It was disappointing to not see any action of any kind. Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
DaddyO Posted May 26, 2012 Author Posted May 26, 2012 OK. Thanks for the feedback, guys. DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
Wayne SW/MO Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Yeah winter and summer are more than months apart on Taney. I caught a bow in Beaver this spring, but I doubt there are any there now. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
