Members Muddler4 Posted June 4, 2012 Author Members Posted June 4, 2012 Sing along "We’ve got trouble, oh we got trouble, Right here in River City! With a capital "T" That rhymes with "P" And that stands for……Pacu." Just kidding of course. I may not hear anything back from MDC. Apparently these are reported caught all over the country and several are reported every year in MO. I found a newspaper article in which one was caught in Lake St. Louis last year. Pacu this far north are assumed to be aquarium releases only. Water temps below 40 are too cold for survival. Although I guess in a spring fed lake they might make through the winter and populate (if a breeding pair existed). Info from River Monsters here. http://animal.discovery.com/fish/river-monsters/red-bellied-pacu.html
Geoff Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 I seen one about 20 pounds come out of the Meremec in Valley Park many years ago. People just dump em in there, you can buy one at petsmart for under 5 bucks. "When you do things right, people wont be sure you've done anything at all."
Addicted to Creeks Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 saw a picture today of a small bull shark someone caught on the Mississippi today, if there is a news article up in the next few days ill make a separate post Fish always lose by being "got in and dressed." It is best to weigh them while they are in the water. The only really large one I ever caught got away with my leader when I first struck him. He weighed ten pounds. —Charles Dudley Warner
Tim Smith Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 They are known as nut-crunchers (i.e. they will crunch your nuts off and cause massive bleeding which has been documented to lead to death) ... at least that is what was said River Monsters. Strange stuff. Yeah. Jeremy was trying to pawn off Mongolian salmon as man killers recently. That guy could make goldfish into man eaters. It won't last the winter.
OzarkFishman Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 I agree Tim, the shows are getting a tad ridiculus. I did hear about those bigteeth, unicorn goldfish in Belizeacongoeastafriganistan ... Now that is crazy stuff .... wait, Pacu ... back to the thread ...
