You can also use one of the super glues to hold the plastic on the hook better - but be careful and don't wind up with a Jerkshad glued to your forearm.

Thanks for everyones comments and little tricks. It's always fun to go outside your confidence baits and try something new.

Al - I think i was hooking them pretty much like you mentioned. I totally agree when ever you are using a swimbait or other minnow plastic that you get the EXACT center of the bait to maximize the action. Takes a couple extra seconds but makes a big difference.

SR -- I'll have to save some of the beat up ones to try as a spinnerbait trailer this Fall

SIU -- I was using a zoom salty super fluke in Albino (liked the blueish back) but i'll have to experiment with a few other colors.

I am a big fluke fan, and use a double fluke rig quite a bit. It provides a little more weight for casting, and also sinks a little faster.

I start with about a 18" set up with a fluke on one end and a ball bearing swivel on the other end. Slide the swivel up your main line and tie another fluke to the end. The swivel section now is pulled by the other fluke, and resembles a few baitfish swimming / escaping together. Kind of a different version of the new hot "A" rig.

Need to pay attention to the size of the holes in the swivel to insore that they are smaller than the eye of the hook on the main line. In that way it won't slide down over the hook eye and destroy the fluke on the leader section.

that's called a 'donkey rig' it's deadly if you use two slightly different colored flukes. on the river keep your leaders short, 12 inches or so and try to keep them so that the flukes are at least touching each other for better action.(I'm going to try it with the new tiny flukes zoom has)

if one leader is much shorter than the other it tends to wrap up more. if they are about the same length I find the fluke on the longer leader sinks deeper while the shorter one darts around closer to the surface. there is a fishing company I'm less than thrilled with currently who makes the swivels that work best. Starts with an 'S' ends with an 'pro'...

The whole point of the fluke is simplicity. I am quite baffled by the extraneous efforts to make this lure "more effective."

Bill Jr. - I just finished having sex with Uma Thurman. However, Mila Kunis was available, and willing. Did I make the wrong choice? Things just kinda happened.

Just make sure you turn off the computer so the kids don't see it!
