I was over a deep hole in my kayak and bringing a smaller 18" striper to hand. As I leaned over prepairing to lip him a 25+ lbr followed him up and side swiped him while he was about a foot under the surface. My heart rate increased dramatically. Needless to say I didn't mess around with taking a pic of the smaller one. I wanted my bait back in the water.

Did you stay south of Marval? How busy was it there? It was packed farther up the river though, lots of asians too. I didn't get to chase and Stripers, but I had the fly and rod ready!

That's awesome though, those are the fish that we only get to see that keep us going back! What were you throwing?

Sounds like you did good! Congratulations on those 7lbers! I hope to get down there this Saturday for some trout. Then next week, I'm off to Upper Taneycomo for some more trout fishing. Good luck.

Glad to see that some of you guys are having some luck on the striper bite! We havent really had much of a chance to get out and chase them this year sadly like in years past. We have hit the Arkansas River once and half-heartedly fished for them last night on the LIR at the tail end of our float.

Nice fish! I bet that kayaking is a fun way to do it. I've never fished that way before.

Got to go down Saturday from daylight to about 11:00 am with a buddy of mine who had never been before. I ended up catching 10 trout spinfishing with marabou jigs. He caught a couple doing the same. Nothing of any real size. There doesn't seem to be very many fish in there compared to a couple months ago. Makes me wonder just how much they really stock it during the summer? All in all had a good time though! Seen what had to be a really nice striper boil a couple times early in the morning.
