zarraspook Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 OK – we are going fishing.... Is there going to be a “bragging” pot ??? Are the fish going to be weighed ??? What fish are eligible to be weighed ??? Is there a penalty for dead fish ??? What will happen to the fish after they are weighed ??? How long are we going to fish ??? What is going to happen after we fish ??? Are we going to launch our boats and then meet at the swimming beach ??? Will we have the meeting and then “launch & go” afterwards ??? How are we going to work around all the other people launching boats ??? ******************************************************************************* We don’t want to anger the normal Sunday traffic and have the word out that “if Ozark Anglers are having a fishing THING(?)” that they crowed out the normal lake traffic !!!!!!!!!!!! ******************************************************************** I’m sure others have questions , also........ "Look up OPTIMIST in the dictionary - there is a picture of a fishing boat being launched"
fishbait3 Posted June 9, 2012 Author Posted June 9, 2012 We will fish from 630am to 1230pm. We are fishing for crappie and bass. We will launch boats and meet over in the cove by the swimming beach at or around 6 am and take off will be 630am. As Justin stated i would like to know all who are interested by no later than Sat. June 16th so if i need to pair people i can give ample times for them to fish together before hand.
fishbait3 Posted June 9, 2012 Author Posted June 9, 2012 Mr. Lilley is Supplying the Scales and placing board that we will will use for this gathering We Will have a cook out afterward attendees are asked to bring sides or desserts or non alcoholic drinks. So i need a for sure # of people count by the deadline Sat June 16th to cover the amount of meat we will need.
Nwtf gobbler Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 Since we are not doing a real tournament, as that requires a regatta permit and official entry fees, I don't think there needs to be a whole lot of rules to it. I think that of there are 2 people in each boat then you should be able to have 30 crappie and 10 bass. Then pick your best 5 bass between then 2 and your best however many crappie to weigh in. I personally want to keep what I catch, especially crappie, as do i think most others probably will. Since it is not an official tourney we should be able to keep them. Again, just my opinions. Jason
wtr dogs Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 I want to see this happen .BUT: Sunday, keeps a couple of my fishin buddies away. The Sunday before the 4th Holiday could be a ZOO and please consider Zaras's concerns! I was not able to meet @ 800 PM due to other commitments! I am in favor of weighing in ANY LEGAL FISH-CAUGHT WITH ANY LEGAL METHOD! NO DYNAMITE!! Does anybody have scales for the weigh in?? Is Mr, Lilly going to provide weigh inn bags? Again, I want to see this happen!! About 32 years ago I was involved in organizing the Shrine International Bass Tournament Which had raised over $300,000.00 for the Shrine Hospitals before I started judging AKC hunt tests in 2001.. I don't know how much$$$$ they have raised since. That tournament is based out of Shell Knob,MO We don;t need to hurt our goals by not prior planning! Ron a again, I want to see this happen Home of the the dam of 2009 AKC National Debry Champion.--AMMOAMMO
fishbait3 Posted June 10, 2012 Author Posted June 10, 2012 I think each boat should provide there own bags they are fairly inexpensive. I myself might pick up a couple packs of the 1time use bags and have them available for the ones that dont. Yes we have scales and a placing board coming. wtr dogs we thought about the busyness of the lake that why we decided an early start time so hopefully we can be getting off the lake as it gets busier NWTF you can keep 15 but i think we decided on 7 crappie at weigh in and 5 bass. Again im at a point i know everyones talking but please let me know if you will be attending so we can get a a realistic number of attendees. no later than Sat. june 16.
fishbait3 Posted June 10, 2012 Author Posted June 10, 2012 If anyone has ? speak up and i will answer them to the best of my ability.
justin scobee Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 Ok this is what was said at the meeting. every one was going to try and keep it on the down low so we did not have to get the regatta permit. Why you ask? Well know one did not know how many would really show as no one would show for ether of the meetings. After the first tournament it would been looked at to see if there was even a turn out for a sec one and then the regatta permit would have been gotten for that one. and the others if there would have been others. There was not really a pot for the winning as of yet. There was going to be a vote that day to see if any one wanted to put a few bucks in just to kick it off and get it started. There was a no rule for bait. just 5 bass and 7 crappie. but u could take what ever u got home with u. I picked the 3 weeks out. Why u ask well I wanted every one to plan a head for it MOSTLY and the other is so a guy could pre fish that area and save money to get there and for there boat as like me I cant just pull out gas to full the truck and boat up so most guys I thought would have to doo the same and save it up. NOT every one has Money just to hop on and go. Again This whole Ideal was made to get every one together that could or would come out. The other thing is we all work diff hrs and have diff things going on. It dose not matter some one is not going to be happy ether way. Now spook I think your putting way to much thought in to this just to start it all off. Its not going to be a big 30 or 40 boat deal. its just a small oaf get together so every one can meet. I don't think this needs to be a weekly deal or a month deal but one or two times a year would be better. but if it hits it off then yea. But I would not be there weekly. So this is what it is JULY 1ST AT 6AM IS JUST A FEW GUYS GETTING TOGETHER GOING FISHING AND IF ITS A HIT THEN WE CAN SEE ABOUT HAVE A TURNAMENT AND GETING THE PAPER WORK THAT IS NEEDED. OR IF ITS A MISS SCRAP THE HOLE DEAL. I REALLY!!!!!!!! want this to happen but we all just need to pull the trigger. We all don't need to make a big deal about it. lets just see what happen at the first one and go from there. Thats all I can say. all the form talk is not going no where. I say go with what we get. if there is 2 boats or 40 boats at the first. Thanks JUSTIN
