I plan to visit the Taneycomo area during late October, and will definitely do some fly fishing. I see where "soft" lures are not permitted, but I'm not sure what "soft" means. I would appreciate an answer from someone who can explain it to me.

Thanks,

Chambug

Soft plastics like plastic worms, curley tails, grubs, power eggs... anything that can hold a scent.

Hey Chambug2

Just wanted to make sure you know that those restrictions are for above fall creek, there are plenty of good places to fish below fall creek if you are so inclined.

I sure do appreciate the responses to my "soft" lure question. I hope to get up to Taneycomo soon, and I'm very partial to a soft lure due to my experience with them in other states. I caught 60 (plus) trout (catch and release) in Arizona last July in a period of about 6 hours spanning an afternoon and the following morning. These were 15 to 24 inch trout, of all species, caught in private lakes and a stream. I'm in the process of trying it out in as many trout streams and lakes as possible, as soon as possible, especially in wild/natural waters.

Thanks,

Chambug2

Can someone point me to a map with the zones layed out? I'm used to Bennett and the zone 1, 2, and 3 type deal. So far I've only used flies, so I think I've been legal. Don't want to toss a stick bait with treblw hooks, or Power Bait, in the wrong areas.

Thanks....

You don't have to worry about treble hooks on Taney, just bait. Trophy area is "artificial lures only" but there aren't restrictions on what those lures are.

It starts at the dam and ends at fall creek, there is a big boat dock there on the right side of the lake as you are headed up stream and a sigh about the regulations.

It is really hard to miss.
