Members skybroom Posted October 10, 2006 Members Posted October 10, 2006 I have fished Tanycomo since the late '80's (at least once per year) but have not been there for the last 2 or 3 years. We fish from a boat and have always caught mostly rainbows by simply drifting/trolling while bouncing bait off the bottom. The first several years we needed nothing buy salmon eggs. The last few years, the eggs don't seem to work at all and we went to powerbait. Every year seems to have a different "hot" color. While I would love to fly fish in the trophy area it won't be possible because my wife wouldn't be interested and I have to keep her happy We plan on coming down for about 3 or 4 days at the end of October. Anyone have any suggestions on a particular bait or powerbait color? Any and all help is appreciated!!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 10, 2006 Root Admin Posted October 10, 2006 Power eggs- one white and one of another color... pink, yellow or orange.
Members skybroom Posted October 10, 2006 Author Members Posted October 10, 2006 Thanks Phil! I'll probably check back in about 2 weeks to see if there is any special bait that is working great. We hope to be down there on the 26th.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 10, 2006 Root Admin Posted October 10, 2006 Special bait = night crawlers and marshmellows! Just ask Lincoln.
Members skybroom Posted October 12, 2006 Author Members Posted October 12, 2006 I've tried that but I can't get the nightcrawlers to eat the marshmallows
Terry Beeson Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Just add chocolate and graham crackers... TROUT S'MORES! TIGHT LINES, YA'LL "There he stands, draped in more equipment than a telephone lineman, trying to outwit an organism with a brain no bigger than a breadcrumb, and getting licked in the process." - Paul O’Neil
Wayne SW/MO Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 My Brother in Law and his dad fished yesterday, out of Lilley's to 65 and did well trolling lures. I won't bother with the lure names because they were each using a different type and color, and it didn't seem to matter. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Members Larry Murphy Posted October 13, 2006 Members Posted October 13, 2006 Lilley....can you describe the rig, hook, set-up, etc. for bottom bouncing the Power Eggs? I'd like to try that the next time I'm there are the water is running. Thanks! Larry
