laker67 Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Started fishing at dark last night with about 4 holdovers from the day crowd. They bailed out by 9:30 or so, and I had the whole creek to myself until around 11:30. Its saturday night and no crowd, a rare event for even summer time. 5 guys rolled in between 11:30 and midnight. They were all polite and courteous and everyone had good water to fish. The fish were really active last night and I caught several good quality fish between 2 and 2.5 lbs. I am sure the other guys were catching them as well, because I saw several headlamps go on and off. Ended the night about 2 am with several fish and 2 lunker rainbow, a 3.5 lber and a really nice looking and healthy female close to 6 lb. A great night to be on the water for sure.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 YIKES!!! A 6lb'er ?? that's a whole lotta fish ! Last time I went.. I got bit up by the mosquitoes... Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.

Hi Brian, skeeters were out in force again last night, as good as I sprayed up, I still got bit a few times. The big female was in great shape, she made four 30 to 50 foot runs and did a full body jump at the end of each one. All of the fish fought hard last night, they should be in good shape for fall o2 levels.
Members mchunter Posted June 25, 2012 Members Posted June 25, 2012 Glad to hear it! My family and I are coming up the Tuesday night prior to the 4th thru the following Monday. I hope to get in several nights of fishing along with several days too. Was up Memorial day weekend and had a blast on my first times to night fish. Were you fly fishing or spin fishing? Also have a question for you guys. My wife and girls don't care much for fishing, but I would sure like to get them out at least one day. Thinking about renting a boat to do some drifting maybe. Would this be the best way to get them on fish? I have never fished Taney from a boat before, so it would be new for me there. Would it matter much whether there was generation or not? Was thinking of seeing if Lilley had one of his cheaper boats available. Thanks. MCHUNTER
Members mchunter Posted June 25, 2012 Members Posted June 25, 2012 Hope noone thinks I was trying to hijack this post. I might should have presented my question in the drift fishing topic. Didn't think about it until it was too late after I had responded to the other one along with my questions. Sorry. MCHUNTER
