buckcreekmike Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Is it worth while to use worms when bank fishing on Taney, or just stick with powerbait type stuff? Will be there this week and into the weekend, but not bringing the boat this time. If I was bringing the boat I would probably be bassin' on Table Rock. THanks for any light you might shed on this for me.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Yes and no. Try fishing down at the Landing... they should've stocked 35k fish this month. Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
Wayne SW/MO Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Cooper creek has shade. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Members Zeke Kuehn Posted June 25, 2012 Members Posted June 25, 2012 The browns really like the worms Carolina rigged. "Fish Long and prosper"- John Geirach
Brian K. Shaffer Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 But... you can only kill and keep one brown, over 20 inches. Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
buckcreekmike Posted June 26, 2012 Author Posted June 26, 2012 Thanks for the info, I may keep some stocker rainbows, I just need to find a way to get all of the bones out, that's the thing that I don't like about trout.
Wayne SW/MO Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Cabelas use to offer a system that used a tube. The fish was pushed down over the tube with the backbone centered. It reportedly worked. There may be some do-it yourself plans on the net. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

There may be some do-it yourself plans on the net. I think this might be the cleaning tool you were thinking of: http://www.spinelesswunderboner.com/ A friend of mine bought a couple of them. After several attempts with less than successful results he gave me one of them. I haven't been able to get good results reliably either. Maybe one out of three or four attempts end up with a boneless trout. The others end up with bones, partial bones, holes through them, and occasionally, when you miss the spine entirely you get a 1/4 inch diameter trout tenderloin, and a bony fish with a chunk of meat missing! Maybe more practice will heol, but I lost some of the various sized rings that are used. Real men go propless!
