Members Larry Murphy Posted October 12, 2006 Members Posted October 12, 2006 New to the forum as of today! Set-up an account to learn more about trout fishing in Missouri. I'm not a rookie fisherman by any means, just want to learn more. Can the newbie do a fishing report? Sure.... Was at Taneycomo this past Saturday, all day. Launched my bass boat for the first time on Taney, and we sleighed the trout. Between the 3 of us, we boated 60 to 70 trout, best was a 3 lb rainbow and a 2 lb brown. Caught most on a Dave's Harvester midge in size 16. Talked to a guide and he ws killing them on a dunn colored midge with a copper head. Anybody know what that is? Read the browns are near #2....what's that? Can I get directions to a better ramp? Used one just upstream of Fall Creek marina, and it's a little rough. Also, I'm not sure it's a public use ramp. Thanks....
Terry Beeson Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Larry, Welcome to the forum. Same Larry M as the one at the Youth Conclave on Dry Run Creek this past Saturday? Since you were on Taney Saturday, guess not... Unless you can be a two places at once... If not the same, you'll understand why you are confused about the post on Muskie on Pomme... Members jim murphy Posted October 12, 2006 Members Posted October 12, 2006 Larry, The best ramp for access to the upper end of Lake Taneycomo is Cooper Creek Access, off Fall Creek Road. It is maintained by the MDC and open to the public. For the lower end, I use the city park ramp at Rockaway Beach above Powersite Dam, this area may have a name but I do not know of it. Welcome aboard, and hope to see you on the water. jim
Members Larry Murphy Posted October 13, 2006 Author Members Posted October 13, 2006 I used a ramp on Fall Creek road that was a few hundred yards upstream from a marina. Was right in the middle of a bunch of condos and had a sign that read "check in at the marina before using"....or something like that. Is that the ramp you're talking about? How about some directions....
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 13, 2006 Root Admin Posted October 13, 2006 Cooper Creek Public Access is off Fall Creek Rd. FC runs from 165 (where Fall Steak House burned) to 76 near the Pizza Hut. Follow the signs to Cooper Creek Resort. The turn off is 2 miles from 76, 3 miles from 165.
