I figured the gloves i mentioned earlier would be the warmest but wasn't sure about how the neoprene would affect handling the fish as Terry mentioned. I am relatively new to trout fishing, but if using a catch & release net i rarely actually come in contact with the fish, would the neoprene be all right in that circumstance? I guess my question is how sensitive are the trout?

Standard fleece is ok, but I prefer windstopper fleece. This seems to me to not lose its warmth once they are wet like standard fleece, just wring them out and your good to go. Cheers Steve
Gavin Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 I've done a fair amount fishing in freezing conditions and I've never really found a great set of gloves. Neoprenes are cold & stiff. Fingerless wool and fleece gloves are a lot better, but not great. I'd recommend carrying at least two pair, and some handwarmer packs. Cheers.

I like to wear the handwarmer belt, that always stays warm and dry as long as you don't wade too deep. Mizzouflyfisher

Seriously, I've used those hunting and fishing. When wading, I do wear it around my chest and inside my waders. Keeps it out of the water... I wore them when we had the Taney cleanup last Winter and I tell you my fingers nearly froze off. I would like to find something that covers the fingers but allows you to take your fingers out when tying on a new bug...Dano Speaking of the cleanup, where is Brian S?
