I'm assuming by the lack of activity in this forum that few of us are visiting the Creek. I'm also assuming with the flow rates of other area streams so low that the upper section of Crane has mostly dried up again, hopefully not. And assuming that the lower section has water but is probably marginal for fishing. Has anyone been down there to see how the creek is doing?

When I was young and free I would spend days like we're having now down there cooling off in the creek. Often I wouldn't fish, just being content to observe them.

Harps yes I go out there a few times a week. As of yesterday it looked by my marker to be up a half in. Now that I am older I spend more time watching than fishing. And yes there are still some very nice trout in the creek. rfc

Crane is very, very low, it is completely underground for a long ways above the city crane.

Hey! The two guys I was hoping would speak up, as I know both of you see the creek on a regular basis. I figured the upper had to be dry for the most part. Is there water in town, or just lower down? Ray, you say it came up a little, has there been any rain down there or are the springs kicking it up?

Even with the rains the creek has hardly moved at all, there is some water in town, it disappears right above town, there is water way up above town the trout are fine, but we need some rain in the worse way. Walked the lower section the other morning, caught 3 trout all on a caddis, water is ok, just low.

There was a good rain on Saturday -- much needed. Water temps in the creek ranged from high -- low 70s -- in shallow, still areas to mid 60s in deep areas. Still pretty high in general and the fish I saw seemed sluggish -- they didn't blast away at the sight of me -- and so, I concluded, stressed. I didn't fish for this reason.

Also saw an armadillo, a group of baby ducks, a fawn with spots and a few turtles.
