lmt out Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 My wife and I are new to walleye fishing and new to stockton have been 10 times this year and have done pretty well in my opinion, Mainly using jig and crawler. What I was wanting to know was how does Stockton compare to Bull Shoals? Size of fish and numbers of fish. Our biggest has been 22 1/2 inches with most being 16 to 18. If a couple were to go to Bull Shoals what part of the lake would you suggest?
Wayne SW/MO Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Not really a walleye fisherman, but BS is much older so I suppose the odds are better for size there. LOZ would be another sleeper, it's has had them around "forever" also. Of course odds and fishing never seem to work out like they do in gambling. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
kwall Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 I like both -- Bull for size and Stockton for numbers . On Bull fish the same as ya' fish on Stockton , I wouldn't change what's been working Difference I've found is Bull is alot clearer so you may need to fish deeper --
wtr dogs Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Suprizingly, Some real lunkers (walleye) come out of Tablerock. Most are caught by bass fisherman. I have seen several in freezers and witnessed one caught over 13lb. I have not fished the Bull. Home of the the dam of 2009 AKC National Debry Champion.--AMMOAMMO
Hunter91 Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 I love Stockton for numbers and the size has seemed to gotten better in the last few years. I like BS for average size which for us is usually the 20 in area. Seen some a lot bigger come out of there also. I attended a get together of some walleye fisherman I know this past weekend on Table Rock. My wife and i caught 4 in the 17 in range but one of our group caught a 10.2lb eye while trolling. So I think all three lakes can be good at times.
powerdive Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Honestly, it's hard to get excited about walleye fishing in Stockton after catching a few at Bull Shoals. One average chunker at BS equals about three or four skinny minnies here.
Members cabinman Posted July 31, 2012 Members Posted July 31, 2012 Bull shoals will fill the livewell with nicer fish compared to Stockton. But we catch several fish every year at Stockton 27 to 29 inches. I have never caught the big ones where the smaller fish hang out at Stockton. Both are great walleye lakes. Both hold big fish if you can find them. The biggest fish at Bull Shoals that I have caught were below Powersite dam in Jan. and Feb. and its hard to catch them or around Beaver Creek in Dec. and Jan.
kwall Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Good Walleyes on Table Rock by what some of you are saying -- I've never fished it but think I'll give it a try , any ideas on where, when and what to try?
Hunter91 Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I have caught walleyes on Table Rock from Moonshine up to Roaring River. Not a bunch mind you but some good ones. I know a few guys on here that have caught some bona fide trophies eyes out of TR. always wade through a lot of bass and bluegill which isnt a bad thing in my book. Trolling cranks and bottom bouncing has been most successful for me. Spooning can be very productive from what I see on bill's report also.
