Rusty Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Thats a weird looking armadillo...To much fur. Leonard, I use to fish an enclosed dock that had part of the floor cut out to fish in. In the winter time you would be catching crappie hand over fist, and all the sudden they would stop. On more than one occasion a beaver would slowly come into site and pop his head out of the water. It looked like a submarine coming to the surface. Kind of eerie. Funny thing was, we almost always scared the beaver...until he slapped that dang tail. It was like a cannon going off, sitting inside the dock.
Dave Cook Posted October 16, 2006 Author Posted October 16, 2006 There are only two animals that I know of that make a lot of noise in the woods...A dog and a armadillo. An aramadillo can sound like a D9 Caterpillar coming through the woods at night. I have fished with beavers, otters and groundhogs close by. Only the armadillo comes close to the noise that was being made. I have seen armadillos in the area before. That's the most probable thing I could come up with. Thanks for all the input. Members Jcvistait Posted October 16, 2006 Members Posted October 16, 2006 Dave, Just to let you know Sunday morning I heard something around the rebar but never saw it. At first I thought it was someone else but never saw anything.
Greg Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Dave You'll probably never what it was for sure. But an armadillo would be my guess as well. Years ago my wife and I were taking a walk in a kind of remote trail at Disney World in Florida. We heard this awful racket behind us. It kept getting closer and closer. Eventually the culprit came into view and it was an armadillo. Things like that can kind of spook you. Especially at night. A couple of times I've been fishing Taney after dark and one of those herons came up behind and let out one of those horrible squawks they make. Thought I was going to jump out of my skin. Members costanza Posted October 16, 2006 Members Posted October 16, 2006 Taney county is one of a few counties with the highest number of black bear sightings in the state. I've heard whatever this "thing" is at rebar, and it sounds huge...
Terry Beeson Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Has anyone seen "The Villge?" Don't tell anyone.... But I think I saw an armadillo suit in Leonard's van... I think he's trying to run off all us night fishermen so he can have the water all to himself... gonefishin Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 I dunno. I think it might have been ET or possibly Yoda. I would rather be fishin'. "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." Benjamin Franklin, 1759
gonefishin Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 While putting on my waders a couple of weeks ago, a fox (four legged kind...) made her way through the parking lot. I heard something Friday night that probably was a Bobcat. I'm sure there are several options as to what it was you heard/saw... Terry: Heard a bobcat? Have you been herassing the local wildlife again? Heh heh I would rather be fishin'. "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.
