River has not dried up YET !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great Dry Fly Fishing

Water is still low and clear, but the fishing is still pretty good, I went down sunday afternoon and landed 14 nice rainbows in about 2 hrs on beetles, ants, and a #20 adams, caught two of the 14 on a small white chamois fly.

Saw a lot of nice fish in the river, several 2lb rainbows were caught this last weekend and a 10lb rainbow came out on wednesday. I fished up near the old CCC lodge, the water is very good for dry fly fishing on that end of the river, great hopper and beetle fishing down in zone 2 under the trees, any time a breeze came thru you could see the trout taking a few flies off the surface, I think there were little red ants being blow into the water out of the brush along side the river.

The hopper dropper system has been working very well for a lot of anglers, a #10 or a #8 hopper with 15" of 7X tippet tied to the bend of the hopper hook, with a small pheasant tail, zebra midge, burlap or a small copper john works very well right now.

Small egg patterns and small woolybuggers are still catching a lot of trout, a #20 egg will catch fish most of the day, under a float or sight fishing both methods work well right now.

A lot of people are fishing the micro jigs under floats right now and are catching a lot of trout on the olive, white, tan, and the black/yellow are doing best right now.

Plastic worms in john Deere green, catalpa worm green, white, orange/white, cheese yellow, and yellow/orange have all been good colors, this week.

Eggs are always working, white, flo. yellow, hatch brown, and pink have all been good this week.

Spinners are always good early in the morning, brown, white, and black have been the best colors this week.

If you are fishing in zone 3 then paste power bait, corn, minnows, and night crawlers, or red wigglers will work most times, good luck on the river this week.

Talked to the hatchery today, spring is running 6.5 million gallons a day, average is 22 million a day of course it always varies with the seasons, the hatchery employee I talked to said we were going to be ok.

Lowest recorded flows were around 3 million a day.

I fished a couple of hours this afternoon caught several on small Adams, also caught some on a #20 egg pattern and a couple on a beetle and 1 on a crackle back, 9' leader 7X tippet.
